Mixon Hill was founded in 2003 by Lee T. Mixon, P.E. and Dr. Christopher J. Hill with a vision to create an engineering firm with the skills, experience, resources, discipline, and foresight that provides comprehensive services supporting the field of transportation management and operations.

Both founders, as well as the associates that have joined the firm, bring a passion for providing solutions to the transportation industry. Bringing these minds together around your next transportation challenge is what makes — ITS. Smarter.

Lee T. Mixon, P.E.

Mr. Mixon has over 19 years experience in technical project management and corporate management. His professional experience has focused on transportation system management and operations, as well as intelligent transportation systems. He has participated in more than fifty research, planning, design, construction, deployment, and integration projects. Mr. Mixon combines his technical expertise with an ability to build strong relationships with clients.
Mr. Mixon has spent his career supporting public and private corporations, as well as foreign, federal, state, and local governments. His technical experience has been gained in projects covering advanced transportation management systems, advanced traveler information systems, advanced rural transportation systems, advanced public transportation systems, and inter-modal transportation systems.
As company president, Mr. Mixon directs the execution and oversees performance on all projects. Mr. Mixon is responsible for the development of all critical processes used on Mixon Hill projects, including our systems engineering, configuration management, and project management processes. In addition to ensuring that Mixon Hill fulfills the scope, schedule, and budget obligations of each project, Mr. Mixon is the owner and director of the firm's Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs. In this capacity, he ensures that all project deliverables and work products are produced to the highest technical and professional standards. Mr. Mixon shares the lessons of his experience in these areas with all other Mixon Hill associates through continuous, one-on-one coaching.

Dr. Christopher J. Hill

Dr. Hill has more than 20 years experience in technical project management and corporate management. His career has been focused on intelligent transportation systems and transportation system management and operations. He has participated in more than seventy research, planning, testing, design, program management, and evaluation projects, many as project manager or principal investigator. This work has been in support of federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as private sector clients. His technical experience is very diverse, and includes traffic management, traveler information, surface transportation weather, public transportation, toll collection, and commercial vehicle applications. Early in his career, he served as consultant program manager on several large initiatives such as the HELP, Minnesota Guidestar, and ENTERPRISE programs. He continues to play a lead role in major federal projects, as program manager for the Clarus national surface transportation weather observation system, and principal investigator for the technical integration of the Integrated Corridor Management initiative.
Dr. Hill is especially recognized for his ability to bring together diverse communities in a positive and mutually-respectful manner. He has been very active in professional society activities, particularly those of ITS America, where for several years he led the society's efforts in rural intelligent transportation systems. He is an experienced and capable communicator, and is frequently asked to speak at national and international conferences on a range of technical, institutional, and organizational issues relating to intelligent transportation systems, and transportation management and operations.
Dr. Hill leads Mixon Hill's proposal development and published documentation efforts. He provides Mixon Hill project managers direction on the scope, content, approach, format, and style of reports and other documents that will be submitted to clients. His exceptional content development, storyboarding, and writing skills win the confidence of new clients. He shares these skills with other Mixon Hill associates through one-on-one mentoring, as well as formal workshops and seminars.
